Selection Criteria
Applications abiding by the above eligibility criteria will be scored according to the following selection criteria:

Based on University and Master studies, mobility to other countries and previous experience in program’s areas of interest |
Research experience | 23% | Publications in journals/conferences (national or international) and scholarships/awards relevant to the research projects prioritized by the EMJD Consortium. However, given expected junior profile of candidates, active participation in research projects will score similarly (you should provide specific references in support letters by former supervisors*). |
CV/motivation letter detailing experience in the research program and Interests | 20% |
Points will be assigned based on the following categories: (1) organization, sequencing, content, vocabulary and word choice, critical thinking, originality and creativity and accuracy of your letter. (2) Competence on the research topics. You may want to detail which PhD Project interests you the most to better assess your candidacy. The list of PhD Projects is available in the description of the programme. Online interviews might be conducted to refine the evaluation. |
Level of English | 15% | Add any document stating that you have the necessary proficiency: TOELF or IELTS equivalent. |
Reference letters* | 10% | Points will be assigned based on the following categories: Level of detail, specific information about the candidate, knowledge of the candidate, characteristics of the candidate, language used and overall impression. |
University position in the Accredited University Ranking | 5% | Listed in the Shangai Ranking - http://www.shanghairanking.com/es/ |
Commitment of home university/research center | 2% | While this is not a major criterion (given junior profile which normally does not have any institutional appointment) a small score will be given for an endorsement by the applicants current home institution, granting the applicant, if selected, a position after completing his/her PhD. |
